“No Shave November,” as some people refer to it, has been used as a great excuse and time-honored tradition for men to grow out a few rebellious bristles without catching too much flak from the boss or the wife during the month formally known as November for years now, but I am always shocked to hear that most people don’t realize the significance of this month. Movember is actually Men’s Health Awareness month, and in an effort to balance out all the pink ribbons and feminine branding that Breast Cancer Awareness and Women’s Health Awareness groups have done such an amazing job of spreading throughout October (which is actually Women’s Health Awareness Month), we men do the manliest thing we can think of, which of course is to grow a mustache! With the recent mustache trends among the mid-town hipsters as a year round outside-the-box fashion motif accessory, sometimes the mustache branding is not given the credit it is due. This Movember, as men around Houston and around the world are growing out our facial hair, remind those that admire your flourishing soup strainer that you are in fact selflessly growing it to promote Men’s Health Awareness and not just as an excuse to give your razor a breather and let’s all acknowledge our Movember brethren as fellow conscientious supporters of the cause!
We are poised for another great tournament this year, and we’ve got several new additions including Caddies, Long Drive Champs, exciting raffle prizes, great sponsors, and endless ways to get involved. Our goal this year is to reach $75,000 in proceeds to be given in honor of Michael M. Wentworth to Friday Harbour. Friday Harbour will provide 501(c)3 charitable tax receipts for all donations whether monetary, in-kind, or raffle items including your team registration fee.
Please see below to become a sponsor, register your team, or donate to this amazing cause.
P.S. if you haven’t started growing your mustache out already, there is no time like the present! “Come for the stache and stay for the cause!”
